St. Louis, MO - Senior Architectural Project Manager - Our Project Managers follow a project from the initial interview through the final punch list. They lead the internal team of our extremely talented Architects, Interns, Interior Designers and Planners to design and create award winning design. With the client, they guide the decision-making process under our ownership team. They apply the principles of teamwork and project focus to the contractors and consultants who help us make the projects ownerships’ vision come to reality. Confidence, backed up by a working knowledge of the project, design principles, and basic good business practices are required. Providing management oversight for all phases of the design and construction of the project is just the beginning. Communicating issues, milestones, and opportunities to expand the project’s impact to the entire design, ownership and contractor team are skills that are required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manages day-to-day client communication and expectations.
Sets and manages design deliverables for consultants and in-house team.
Communicates expectations to all parties.
Develops lasting personal relationships with clients…while continually seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction.
Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative design solutions.
Administers the design, manages the customer, and interprets building review comments into plans that will achieve the client’s objectives.
Takes the lead in all client meetings and in the establishment of presentations to explain progress and alternatives.
Tracks time expenditures to manage the profit expectations.
Documents all critical decisions in writing and stores in HARD COPY.
Motivates design & construction team to work together in the most efficient manner.
Mitigates team conflict and communication problems.
Resolves problems of a highly professional and technically difficult nature.
Supervises consultants, including structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and subcontracted civil engineers, geotechnical firms and environmental firms engaged in the design, review and producing fully coordinated A/E plans.
Performs architectural contract administration including coordination with department heads and interfacing with local planning and permitting authorities.
Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
Reports to client, contractor and design team about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated. Direct report to ownership of the firm.
Job Requirements
Graduate of a four-year degree program in construction management or construction science.
Graduate engineers or architects are preferred.
Architectural License is preferred, or a developed path to obtaining a license.
Ten years or more of experience assisting or supervising design and construction projects of increasing complexity.
Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
