Saint Louis, MO - Senior Civil Estimator
Responsibilities
- Review sources for projects that are letting, i.e. MoDOT plan room, E-Plan, municipality websites, etc. as directed by the Estimating Manager
- Attend informational and mandatory pre-bid meetings
- Review and understanding of plans and specifications as it relates to developing the cost estimate
- Make necessary jobsite visits pre-bid to understand existing site conditions
- Prepare takeoffs and pricing for all scopes of work within heavy civil area
- Prepare detailed estimate deliverables in a clear, concise standard format
- Lead internal bid review meetings and discussion
- Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to insure competitive pricing
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier scopes, quotes and notes to determine completeness and selection for use
- Proactively engage appropriate managers and field personnel during pre-bid construct-ability reviews
- Coordinate with project scheduler as necessary during pre-bid
Requirements / Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Heavy Highway/Civil Construction
- Experience constructing and/or estimating bridges, structural concrete, sheet piling, MSE walls, etc. is highly preferred
- Ability to multi-task and possess strong problem-solving skills
- Leadership skills and a credible reputation
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Applications and HCSS (specifically HeavyBid)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
